Although our county suffered less severe damage than did other central counties in the massive earthquake that brought unprecedented disaster to Formosa on September 21, we feel pain and sorrow at any loss of life or home. The timely concern and dedicated assistance that The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association has extended to our compatriots, from wherever you are and regardless of your relationship with the victims, has greatly helped our county government in its relief work and in minimizing the impact of this calamity. Your actions have testified to the brighter side of human nature. For this, let me express my most sincere appreciation on behalf of all our county residents.
