Foreword:
On the morning of December
26, 2004, a powerful earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale
shook the seabed off the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra,
triggering destructive tsunamis that caused severe damage and
heavy casualties in countries around the Indian Ocean. More than
290,000 lives were lost and the number of casualties is still
rising.

As Supreme Master
Ching Hai teaches Her disciples, "We don't just meditate. We
also help people when they're in need... If we just send money and
food, it's not as good as delivering it ourselves with love and
care. |
|
In so doing, we
also lend some of our blessings from Heaven to these people. So
it has a longer effect, as well as the personal contact being perhaps
more comfortable for the victims." |
|
Thus,
when members of The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association
learned of the South Asian tsunami catastrophe, their immediate response
was to directly express their love and care to the victims. With compassion
and courage, they flew thousands of miles across oceans to the affected
areas to personally share Master's care and concern. Below is a composite
report on the relief work conducted by Quan Yin practitioners in the disaster-stricken
areas.
