The initiates then decided to drive to the “University of Swaziland” which was only 34km away. On the way they stopped at the “Swaziland Times” (the most read Swazi Newspaper) where they met with an editor who told them that he would like to investigate the information and if he was satisfied he would give them a couple of free slots in the newspaper! Upon arriving at the university the initiates noticed that it was very quiet, so they went to the office to inquire whether they could distribute the leaflets and where the students were. They were informed that it was a holiday but were lucky enough to meet a Dean from the university who was very open to and interested in the vegetarian message. He asked the initiates to leave copies of the flyer as well as Master’s sample booklet and ensured them that he would hand the information out to the students when they returned to the university. He also told them that he would very seriously now have to reconsider his choice of lunch!! Returning to the very busy city center, the initiates were amazed at the local people’s responses, and how even when they were carrying heavy items, they would put them down to take a flyer. A lot of people seemed to understand the benefits of a vegetarian diet, how it would be healthier and how it could even improve the situation of world hunger. They were thanked again and again for bringing this very important message to the people of Swaziland. One local Swazi even asked the initiates to stay longer in the country so that they could continue spreading this message. Another Swazi male walked passed and said, “It’s the way to heaven!” Earlier a local insisted on helping with the distribution. In just a little more than one day the initiates were able to distribute 5,000 flyers to the inhabitants of Mbabane, with a population of about 50,000 people.

The following morning before going out to do the work, two initiates took a walk on the pier outside their hotel room and noticed some local people praying sincerely. So one brother immediately rushed back to their hotel room to get some sample booklets and flyers, and when the local people finished praying he went up to them and gave them the information. Surprisingly they could speak English and were very interested in Master’s teachings. After this special encounter arranged by God, the initiates set off to
begin their distribution on the main streets of Maputo. The locals doing
their shopping were so receptive, as everyone they encountered accepted
a leaflet. It was amazing to see even those that missed out would come
back to ask for one and some even asked for more for their friends. It
seemed everyone wanted God’s beautifully designed message. There
were a few local people that even asked the initiates where they could
get the nice, specially designed T-shirts bearing the Alternative Living
message that they were wearing. |
