T. Colin Campbell was the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus
of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University and Project Director
of the China-Oxford-Cornell Diet and Health Project. For more than 40
years, he has been at the forefront of nutrition research. Campbell grew
up as a farm boy in Virginia, USA and began his career as a scientist
trying to promote a western meat based diet in the third world. Baffled
by some findings in his initial research, he began to question some deep-rooted
beliefs about protein and health. He finally found compelling evidence
for the fact that a plant based diet is the natural diet for humans and
became vegan himself. The book is a clearly written in-depth reference
that includes original research articles. “The China Study”
would make a great gift for friends and relatives whose well-being concerns
us.
