Animal Friends Enjoyed the “Food for the Lively Doggie”
![]() The scorching heat of the summer sun could not burn out the enthusiasm of Taipei initiates promoting the vegetarian lifestyle. In August of Golden Year 3 (2006), a group of fellow practitioners traveled to summer resorts and seacoast recreation areas to distribute Alternative Living leaflets. Another group visited zoos, Leofoo Village, Ta Shee Blooming Oasis, and Tomita Farm, to share with our animal friends the “Food for the Lively Doggie” made by Loving Food company . Fellow initiates were delighted to find that animals in feeding areas of the zoos enjoyed the food. Black swans sneaked up to get the baboons’ share, while fish in the pools swarmed toward the water’s edge wanting more of the vegetarian feed. An Alternative for Veterans
New Curriculum for Junior High
On August 29, brothers and sisters from Taipei contributed 2,500 Alternative Living document folders to the county’s Sintai Junior High School. The contribution was received by the dean of academic affairs, Ms. Cao Xin-yun, who appreciated our loving concern and promised to distribute the gifts of love and blessing to teachers and students when school opened in the fall. She said that she would inform the teachers that they could incorporate the message of a healthy vegetarian lifestyle, animal protection, and compassion development, into the curriculum of life sciences. Fellow initiates visited the school library and found Master’s books on The Key of Immediate Enlightenment in its collection. The librarian Ms. Xie was eager to expand the library’s collection with Master’s story books and illustrated books of wisdom series, which would be a great blessing for the students. Fellow initiates promised to add to the library collection. Seeing school authorities eager to accept all things related to truth, virtues, and beauty, we are certain that it will benefit all teachers and students. Energizing Food
A man in his seventies who had newly arrived at the venue declined a sister’s invitation to try some vegetarian food. Since he expressed little interest in vegetarian food, the sister offered him a cup of milk tea and seated him to watch Master’s lectures. After a while, this gentleman went to get his wife, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren to watch the lectures together. When his family members tried the vegetarian food, he also joined in and found it very tasteful. The family enjoyed a blissful afternoon until the event came to an end. A lady who had just learned the Convenient Method of Meditation was reluctant to leave and lingered in the company of our fellow initiates, hoping to meditate in more sessions with other Convenient Method of Meditation learners. She eventually sat through three sessions and felt her body grow light as though it was about to levitate. She was elated. Many other people saw light of different colors during meditation and some were moved to tears. At the end of the activity, we loaded all the spiritual publications,
TV sets, and other equipment onto our truck and prepared to return
to Taipei Center. Then, a drizzle began but soon gave way to a heavy
downpour. This was the cold and wet weather that had originally been
forecasted. Fellow initiates participating in the event witnessed
the God Power in function and experienced Master’s constant
care of us. We firmly believe that the seeds of mercy have been sown
in people’s hearts. With Master’s omnipresent blessing
power and intense efforts by fellow initiates around the world, the
ideal of “creating a compassionate and vegetarian global village”
will soon be realize.
