The weekly newspaper "Rural Economy," with a nationwide
circulation of 100,000, recently published a news report on Supreme Master
Ching Hai's contribution of US$30,000 to the Education Assistance and
Humanitarian Funds of the Vietnam Central Association for Promoting Educational
Development. This non-governmental, non-profit organization promotes the
development of education and community service for 54 ethnic groups in
need in Au Lac.
As reported by journalist Tan Phong of "Rural Economy"
newspaper: "Recently, this organization received US$30,000 from The
Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association in the United States.
Mr. Tran Minh Tam, director of the agency, said: 'The money we receive
from the kind-hearted people in our country and abroad will be used for
humanitarian and educational purposes, helping poor students, disadvantaged
and homeless children, and those who live in remote areas and don't have
the means to attend school in the provinces and cities in the south. According
to our plan, in the year 2007, our funds will be reserved for 10,000 scholarships
to support poor college students who are motivated to study, to build
100 houses of loving support for poor teachers teaching at remote schools,
and to build more schools.' " Director Tran Minh Tam expressed his
gratitude for Supreme Master Ching Hai's love and concern for the students
and the less fortunate.
