More Veggies for Residents of Seismic Zone
By Bali News Group (Originally
in Indonesian)
Indonesia, situated in one of the world’s most active volcanic regions, is facing the repercussions of global warming. It has been hit by several earthquakes over the past few years and, on August 7,
2008, its Sumbawa Island was struck by a 6.6-magnitude temblor.
With a contribution of US$10,000 from Master, Association members
from Bali and Jakarta arrived in Dompu within one week, where thousands
had been displaced. They set up a free clinic and brought rice, instant
noodles and plastic tarpaulins to at least seven villages. With assistance
from Dompu Red Cross officials, they distributed Global Warming flyers
and set up a related presentation for local government officials.
During the six-day relief effort, more than 7,200 Global Warming booklets
and flyers were distributed with Alternative Living and Supreme Master
TV flyers. The chief of the Dompu Red Cross decided to become a vegetarian!
He was also active in promoting this urgent message. Teachers asked
for more flyers and VCDs for their students. Many people decided to
eat less meat and more vegetables to create more positive energy and
reverse climate change.
