The Frankfurt Book Fair is one of the largest and most prominent book fairs in the world. This year’s 60th Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany, held from October 15 to 19, Golden Year 5 (2008), was the most successful ever, with almost 300,000 visitors overall. At a beautiful booth in the children’s books section of this year’s fair, The Love Ocean Creative International Company Ltd. displayed animal books by Supreme Master Ching Hai, including the German and French versions of The Birds in My Life, which ranked as number one best sellers on Amazon.de and Amazon.fr.

On October 18, a video conference was held at the fair to introduce these newly published language versions of The Birds in My Life to a large audience. The event was called “Animals, Our Noble Co-inhabitants: Every being that you encounter has a heart, has feelings and deserves respect.” Distinguished attendees from Germany, France and the United Kingdom had the opportunity to ask a wide range of questions and receive answers from the conference’s honored guest, Supreme Master Ching Hai.

Mr. Wasmut Reyer, engineer and vegetarian animal rights advocate, asked Master how Her books could influence more people. Master said that just like drops of oil in water, the effect would spread. In responding to a question by Mr. Andrew Knight, President of Animals Count, an English animal rights party, on what everyone should do in the face of global warming, Master said, “The vegetarian, meaning animal-free diet and lifestyle, is the best and fastest way to stop our disaster of global warming and the destruction of our planet.” She went on to explain: “Every action invokes a reaction. We all sow what we reap. So if we ‘let live’ the animals, Heaven will let us live. We have to treat animals with kindness the way we treat our own children and ourselves. Then we have the hope to save the planet. Please be a vegan; stay away from animal products and cruelty to humans and all beings of the planet. Not only can we save the planet, but it will be more peaceful, more glorious and more happy for everyone to enjoy.”

The puppet show “The Adventure of the Little Prince with Loving Animals,” performed by The Love Ocean Puppet Theatre from Formosa, was a hit. With characters from Antoine de Saint Exupéry’s novel and some of the birds of The Birds in My Life, the show was eagerly anticipated before each performance by children visiting the booth.

After the conference, the guests were invited to a vegan buffet. German animal communicator Andrea Frankrone expressed her joy at having been able to speak with Master Ching Hai. Mr. Steppat, editor-in-chief of the magazine of the German Vegetarian Society, who had already met members of our Association at the World Vegetarian Congress in July of 2008, related his positive impression of Master and our group. All the guests who received a free copy of the German version of The Birds in My Life spoke of their love for its message, and many have maintained contact with our Association ever since.

Our Association members are looking forward to the release of the German version of The Noble Wilds next, to awaken even more awareness of the blessings that our beautiful animal co-inhabitants bring to us, and how much they deserve to be treated with all kindness and love, just like our fellow human beings and all life on this planet.
