World March Event in Kuala Lumpur
By Kuala Lumpur News Group (Originally in English)
[Kuala
Lumpur] To celebrate the 140th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma
Gandhi, the World March for Peace and Nonviolence started on October 2,
Golden Year 6 (2009) in New Zealand and will continue for 3 months, crossing
90 countries and 100 cities on five continents. The participants will
meet political leaders, organizations and local societies to urge the
dismantling of nuclear arsenals, the immediate withdrawal of troops from
occupied countries, and the progressive disarmament of conventional weaponry
as well as the signing of non-aggression pacts, and the renouncement of
war to resolve conflicts.
The
march came to the city of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia for the first time
on October 10, which coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival. Together
with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Malaysia,
Women’s Aid Organization, Nur Salam, Voice of the Children, and
World without Wars, our local Association members were also invited to
join this noteworthy cause under the flagship of Supreme Master Television.
It was a night to remember. Lit lanterns filled the air as participants
from the World March event walked serenely holding banners and posters
promoting peace, with our Association members carrying the SOS banners,
pleading “Be Veg♥
Go Green♥Save The Planet.”
The “stars” of the occasion were the furry animal doggie friends
who were accompanied by their loving caregivers.
As
the evening progressed, our Association’s booth became the prime
attraction as many visitors were pleasantly surprised by the variety of
vegan foods served. SOS flyers, DVDs on global warming and Master’s
sample booklets were among the items distributed to the visitors. At the
end of the event, our Association contributed all the proceeds from the
food sales to the SPCA, as a token of appreciation for their noble efforts
in saving and protecting our precious animal co-inhabitants.
During an interview, Malaysian celebrity actress, Maya Karin,
appealed to all concerned Malaysians to reduce their meat consumption
which she believes is one of the major contributors to global warming.
She further elaborated that each and every individual could also do their
part by eliminating the use of plastic packaging materials. We thank Ms.
Maya Karin and all participants for their endeavors in helping to create
a better and healthier environment for all.
Advocating “Be Veg! Go Green! Save the Planet!”
in Schools
By Johore Bahru News Group (Originally in Chinese)
[Johore Bahru] To help young children understand the
cause of global warming, its impact on climate change along with the solution,
initiates from the Johore Bahru Center held a “Be Veg! Go Green!
Save the Planet!” event at the Pei Hwa Primary School in Kota Tinggi.
Participants included 144 students from three primary schools and four
kindergartens. The event featured a colouring and painting competition,
displays showcasing Master’s life and achievements, as well as an
exhibition on environmental protection. In addition to showing relevant
videos, the initiates also prepared some global warming DVDs and flyers
as well as information on how to make eco-friendly enzymes, for parents
to take freely. Master’s #1 International bestseller The Noble
Wilds and The Realization of Health were also contributed to
the libraries of the primary schools.
The initiates were very grateful to the schools for their loving
assistance. They sincerely hope that this event will encourage more students,
teachers, and parents to adopt a plant-based diet and to mitigate global
warming with practical actions.
