Bhutanese Quake Victims Grateful for
Master’s Loving Gifts
By India Relief Team (Originally in English)
On September 21, 2009, when an earthquake measuring
6.1 shook Mongar and Tashigang, Bhutan, dozens of people were
injured and eleven lost their lives due to collapsed buildings.
Immediately after the tremor struck, the government of Bhutan
began working to repair homes and infrastructure in the region.
Out of deep love and compassion, Supreme Master Ching Hai contributed
US$15,000 to assist in the relief effort. The funds were used
to purchase urgently needed relief materials, which our Indian
Association members distributed along with relief cash to the
victims with the help of Bhutan’s Home Minister Gyalpoi
Zimpon, who greatly appreciated Master’s generous gifts,
as it represented the first help received from outside the country.
God bless the government of Bhutan and may the Bhutanese people
have a swift recovery and soon return to peace and normal living.
