Spoken by Supreme Master Ching Hai,
Hsihu, Formosa October 19, 1990
(Originally in Chinese)With power but without love, one changes into a devil. There is little difference between a devil and a saint. Both have similar power, except that the saint has love and the devil doesn't. The devil is very selfish, demanding and taking away everything. The devil gives only criticism and has no tolerance. The saint also gives criticism, but he also has tolerance. The saint criticizes at the right time to encourage people to make progress and understand their shortcomings. He exercises tolerance where appropriate, so that people can live on, be encouraged, and not feel too guilty. So to be a saint is to possess multi-faceted qualities.
