The
next day, one of the hotel employees who could speak good Spanish
agreed to assist me during my stay. He took me to many bookshops and
libraries to distribute sample booklets and magazines, and later we
visited the only vegetarian restaurant in Port-au-Prince. There I
was introduced to the owners, who fortunately could speak perfect
English. When I mentioned that I was a representative of the Supreme
Master Ching Hai, they smiled and said, "We already know of your Master."
They continued to explain that a Canadian sister initiate had visited
Haiti some years ago and had left some sample booklets at their restaurant.
The restaurant owners had also organized their own yoga meditation
group, and kindly invited us to present a video conference to all
its members. They felt that their country was very much in need of
true spiritual teachings, especially due to its widespread poverty,
which has been steadily deteriorating the country's infrastructure
and quality of life over the last ten years.
The
conference was presented on the Sunday after the group's regular meditation
session to over 40 of its members, beginning with an introduction
to Master's life and a lecture video, all with French subtitles. Afterwards,
the restaurant owners kindly translated at the question-and-answer
session, during which many spiritually informed questions were asked.
Concluding the conference, we gratefully thanked the organizers and
all the yoga group's members, and with respect to their master, we
commended them for their open-minded and welcoming response to the
teachings of another Master. Upon leaving the room, the guests gratefully
received French sample booklets and magazines. Many people wanted
to know more about Master's teachings and the Quan Yin Method, and
wrote down their names and information for future contact. Now that
many spiritual seeds of affinity have been securely planted in Haiti,
the Haitian people can look forward to a brighter future of spiritual
awakening, thus carrying them into the Golden Age.
