A Marvelous Adventure of Love
By Costa Rica News Group (Originally in Spanish)
On April 28, Golden Year 3 (2006), the Costa Rica Center participated
in the Food Festival at the University of Costa Rica. Everyone worked
so diligently to help prepare for this event. Some cooked the food, some
constructed and decorated the booth, and some planned the distribution
of the Alternative Living flyers. It was a marvelous adventure of love
and we all felt so happy hoping that the consciousness of our fellow countrymen
would be elevated and they would be able to live a freer life style along
with our animal friends.
The initiates that served the food wore beautiful bright red aprons with
white caps, the ones that handed out the flyers and explained about the
vegetarian diet at our booth wore the attractive bright yellow eye-catching
vests, and the ones that did the leaflet distribution in the crowds wore
cute T-shirts with the Alternative Living information printed on them.
To
everyone that visited our booth, we tried to explain why it was so important
to be vegetarian. The students were amazed at how delicious the food was
that we offered. We tried to include many of the traditional Costa Rican
dishes like ‘arracache’, ‘tamales with vegetable and
soy’, ‘tamales with beans’, ‘hash brown potatoes
with soy’, as well as some international ones along with yummy soy
milk. They were surprised at how easy it was to replace the meat ingredient
with the healthy soy products in international and traditional recipes
and still have the most wonderful authentic taste.
Around 11,000 flyers were distributed throughout the university campus.
The Alternative Living message was very well received.
