[Taipei] In response to the calling on fighting global warming through the Live Earth continuous concerts around the world by superstars, The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association convened two health seminars entitled “100 Percent Vegetarian Diet for a Happy Life,” and a starlight concert on July 6 and 7, Golden Year 4 (2007). The event was co-sponsored by the United Daily News (UDN), the flagship newspaper of a major media conglomerate in Formosa, at the UDN Square in a busy commercial district in Taipei. In the venue there was a display of the Alternative Living message, two installation art masterpieces by Mr. Baliwakes (aka Chang Chien-wei), a visual artist from the Pinuyumayan indigenous tribe. The first installation named “Shining Field” was made from fresh, locally cultivated bananas. The other—the “Ark of Life”—was a unique fishing boat of the Yami indigenous people, loaded with a wide assortment of fresh fruits. The Ark helped alert people to quickly change their diet so as not to endanger Mother Earth and their own lives that might have them fleeing for life as in the Biblical ark. The Happy Life health seminar featured prominent speakers who elaborated on the importance and benefits of a vegetarian diet. They were Dr. Su Zhu-hui, former Superintendent of the Taiwan Adventist Hospital, nutritionist Lin Zi-you, naturopath expert Ouyang Ying, and three distinguished doctors of western and Chinese medicine. Especially convincing was the clinical success cited by Dr. Su of the “4 No's and 1 High” vegetarian diet, that is, no egg, no milk, no refined sugar, no refined oil and high fiber. This diet is strongly recommended by the Taiwan Adventist Hospital and has contributed significantly to the better health of many patients. The two insightful seminars in the two-day activity received warm responses from the audience.
The starlight concert began with a recital of Master's “I Have a Dream.” Other performances included singing, musical recital, and a traditional Chinese diabolo performance by young fellow initiates. At his speech, UDN Manager Zhou thanked fellow initiates from the Association, who voluntarily worked throughout the night to decorate the venue. He also lauded the meaningful public-benefit event that was marked by health and vigor. Some UDN staff members said that although they had known about Master for as long as a decade, this activity gave them a better and accurate understanding of the Association. Some added that they wanted to switch to a vegetarian diet and practice the Convenient Method. While enjoying the ethereal performances, guests savored fresh fruit juices and vegetarian snacks lovingly prepared by fellow initiates. Many guests pledged to devote to Alternative Living and protect the environment, the Earth, and animal rights with a vegetarian lifestyle. During the weekend activity, fellow initiates distributed more than 15,000 copies of Supreme Master Television publicity materials at the venue. We are grateful to Master for this incredible arrangement that allowed us to work alongside the media to awaken more people to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle, to love and care about our Earth, and to make the world more beautiful!

[Changhua] On June 23, Golden Year 4 (2007), fellow initiates from the Changhua Center of The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association held a seminar on emotion management and stress relief as well as a vegetarian food tasting session for guests and the staff of Changhua County Sianxi Township Office. From the perspective of body, mind and spirit, fellow initiates explored effective methods to manage emotions and relieve stress. We introduced Supreme Master Television, which inspires people to think positively and helps bring peace to their mind. We also emphasized that the vegetarian diet is good for physical and spiritual well-being and is a modern, environmentally friendly and compassionate lifestyle. The attendees were then treated to nearly twenty tasty and healthy vegetarian dishes for lunch. All the employees of the Township Office and other guests were impressed by the vegetarian food, as it was so delicious, aromatic and tempting. We were happy and grateful to have received an earnest response from the attendees at this warm and cordial event.
