On April 15, Golden Year 5 (2008), a video seminar was held for the general public to introduce Supreme Master Ching Hai’s latest bestselling books-The Birds in My Life, The Dogs in My Life and The Noble Wilds-in London’s charming Chelsea Old Town Hall. The evening brought a surprise for the audience! Representatives from the Young Indian Vegetarians (YIV) had come to present an award for Master. YIV is an organization whose mission includes a pledge to protect all life shared on the planet, along with the goal of “a world free of violence towards all living beings who are dependent on our love and compassion.” The YIV members, having previously learned of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s compassion for all beings, wished to honor Her with the Mahaveer Award. The Award’s name comes from an enlightened Jain Master, Lord Mahavir, who lived 2,500 years ago. The seminar began with a short introduction, followed by a musical interlude where two performers filled the hall with heavenly tunes! When the video Walk the Way of Love was played, audience members were captivated and watched with admiration and respect.
Although Supreme Master Ching Hai was unable to attend the Mahaveer Award presentation personally, Her great loving presence was felt and expressed through Her heartwarming award acceptance letter:
After this, the initiates presented a video about Supreme Master Ching Hai’s latest books: The Birds in My Life, The Dogs in My Life and The Noble Wilds. The audience was clearly moved by Master’s love and compassion for the animal kingdom. The guests were then treated to a delicious vegan fare, prepared with love by our fellow initiates. UK fellow initiates were grateful for this opportunity to work together in harmony and help spread Master’s compassion for others.
