A Special Video Seminar and

the

Mahaveer

Award

By UK News Group (Originally in English)

On April 15, Golden Year 5 (2008), a video seminar was held for the general public to introduce Supreme Master Ching Hai’s latest bestselling books-The Birds in My Life, The Dogs in My Life and The Noble Wilds-in London’s charming Chelsea Old Town Hall.

The evening brought a surprise for the audience! Representatives from the Young Indian Vegetarians (YIV) had come to present an award for Master. YIV is an organization whose mission includes a pledge to protect all life shared on the planet, along with the goal of “a world free of violence towards all living beings who are dependent on our love and compassion.” The YIV members, having previously learned of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s compassion for all beings, wished to honor Her with the Mahaveer Award. The Award’s name comes from an enlightened Jain Master, Lord Mahavir, who lived 2,500 years ago.

The seminar began with a short introduction, followed by a musical interlude where two performers filled the hall with heavenly tunes! When the video Walk the Way of Love was played, audience members were captivated and watched with admiration and respect.

In that loving ambience, YIV founder Mr. Nitin Mehta presented the Mahaveer Award. A fellow initiate accepted on behalf of Supreme Master Ching Hai, with the inscription on the Award reading as follows:

MAHAVEER AWARD

Presented to Supreme Master Ching Hai

Your compassion for all living beings is as deep as the Ocean. You have inspired people all over the world to become Vegetarian and Vegan. Your absolute and deep love for animals is a message to the human race to give up violence and become compassionate. Just as Lord Buddha showed the right path to the human race you are showing the right path so that our planet and future generations can survive in peace. We salute you.

Although Supreme Master Ching Hai was unable to attend the Mahaveer Award presentation personally, Her great loving presence was felt and expressed through Her heartwarming award acceptance letter:

"I am very touched and honored to be nominated for your prestigious Mahavir Award. Thank you so much for your precious affections and respect for me, and the excellent work that you are doing to promote vegetarianism and ahimsa. Thank you. I also thank God for providing groups like yours helping to protect our beautiful planet. I feel humbled yet privileged to have been considered for your award. …Your continual support and celebration of humane achievements is inspirational and will surely help to create a better world where all co-inhabitants live in peace and harmony."

After this, the initiates presented a video about Supreme Master Ching Hai’s latest books: The Birds in My Life, The Dogs in My Life and The Noble Wilds. The audience was clearly moved by Master’s love and compassion for the animal kingdom.

The guests were then treated to a delicious vegan fare, prepared with love by our fellow initiates.

UK fellow initiates were grateful for this opportunity to work together in harmony and help spread Master’s compassion for others.
