[Pescara] Italy ranks first in Europe both in the number of organic farms and organic cultivated land area. It was the perfect place to celebrate Organic Sunday. On October 5, Golden Year 5 (2008), a hundred cities throughout Italy hosted the ninth annual “Biodomenica” or Organic Sunday. Fellow initiates partook in the Pescara festivities and offered a new perspective on the benefits of a vegetarian diet. They distributed Alternative Living and SOS Global Warming flyers, served delicious vegan treats, handed out recipes and arranged a vegetarian cooking class for interested people. Their message reached large numbers of people who had been drawn out of their homes to the organic food fair by the beautiful, sunny weather.
